Coudelaria Luís Bastos was founded in 2006 by Luís Bastos, with 5 Lusitano mares, all with the pure Veiga-line. Today the stud has 12 pure bred Lusitano mares.

The stud farm is located in Porto de Muge, near Cartaxo-Santarem, very close to the river Tejo which is the district of Santarem. It’s approximately 60 km from Lisbon. The farm has modern facilities and an up date approach to horse care and development.

Luis started his highly successful project with the aim to produce pure bred Lusitanos that demonstrate high quality to compete at the top level in the different sportive disciplines such as dressage and working equitation. Our main breeding focus is dressage horses that retain the qualities and characteristics of the true Lusitano.

We have bought stunning colts from Coudelaria We have bought stunning colts from Coudelaria Luís Bastos one called INDIGO et IMPERADOR. We had tried to buy Escorial but he was not for sale so we asked if they had any others. Luis send us some videos and photos and Patricia liked Indigo so we took a big risk and bought him over the phone to pick up later at Golegã. I admit I was worried as we had never seen him and we bought two foals but Luis was impeccable in the way he worked with us and said he would return the money if we didn’t like them. When several months later we saw our foals we were delighted they are stunning everything he promised. They are worthy of their sire Escorial and we were not disappointed. We have been delighted ever since and are achieving great results in France. We wish Luís every success in his vision he is an honest man and pleasure to do business with. We have every confidence in him and his horses.
